In light of the recent increase of no-pay work requests, and backlash it's receiving from members of the forum, myself included, I'd like to propose that the Job Requests forum be further split into Commissioned and Pro Bono requests.

Just my two cents.

Pro bono is defined as "of or indicating services, as by a lawyer or doctor, that are provided without payment for poor people, charitable organizations, or the like." (Wordsmyth (http://www.wordsmyth.net/live/home.php?script=search&matchent=pro+bono&matchtype=exact))

When someone claims to own a business, and then asks for free services, that someone is not asking for pro bono work. The adjective "pro bono" only applies to that which possesses significant moral relevance. Clients such as an animal shelter, a free clinic, a veterans association, etc. are appropriate objects of pro bono activities. Clothing lines are not.

I think a more accurate organization of the types of requisitions is (a) a forum for "Work That Pays" and (b) a forum for "Work That Doesn't".

"Commissioned" is a poorly used term that doesn't refer to a monetary exchange, and "pro bono" is far too specific for the needs of forum efficiency.

Other systems: Professional / Non-Professional
Profitable / Unprofitable

I understand your anger towards those involved in events recently, you and I both know who we reference to, and honestly it is/was unnecessary to make reference to them specifically. Don't get caught up on word games, we all know what I meant, the point is that a divide is necessary, although thank you for your suggestions.

Cheers.

I personaly think this is a very good idea. I'll move this thread to the Feedback Center and make a thread in the Moderator Area.
