it is, i'd suggest looking at sites, and artwork, and trying to see if you can see how it's done, and follow tutorials, the question is a bit vague so i can't help any more than that

complicated? it's not, it's as "complicated" as any other styles. just watch some movies, thats my main inspiration source.

Shoot,

Here (http://www.flamingpear.com/gallery03.html) is a link to a planet Mars example made by a flaming pear plug-in. It's not bad and I'm sure you could use a custom or trend whore brushes to make it more "Sci-Fi" ish.

oddly enough i agree with that...

some things you just have to learn on your own, everything isn't going to be given to you in a silver spoon =)

Unless you have the memory of what was that animal with a good memory?...Anyhow...simple inspiration won't help you much, try looking at other's images...try to see what techniques they use and do your thing till you get what you like.

i dunno, maybe its just me but i think peops should share their knowledge, so what if he does happen to copy you? then he's a lamer and you know it and you dont really care what others think do you?

i agree that learning by yourself as a result of your mistakes is the best method but sometimes some people need a little guidance...if i found out some new trick, i would definitely let people know without a doubt...its not a competition or anything, its about improving yourself :)

anyway this isnt something to be discussed in the photoshop forum

a little guidance to me means helping out with specific questions...i.e. how do you control the use of gradients to achieve a sci-fi look.

the question how do you use a sci-fi style is by far too broad, and if a "designer" can't pick out certain elements that make the style what it is, then they really should rethink using that certain style.

my .02¢

OK, here's a solution to the problem. I created a tutorial for the tech-style that I used a while back. It should cover some of the basics at least. http://www.grafyte.co.uk/
