View Full Version : Good PRE=PRESS book?
Hi guys, I was wondering if any of you know any good for learning pre-press. I mean, if i'm a graphic designer, I don't need to have the knowledge like a 'print operator' right?
Anyway, I bought this cheap book, but so far it's quite informative (i haven't got much of it yet, it's too technical, i always got sleepy when i read it :P). Have any of you read this book, and is this book enough for my prepress guidance ?

Nope, haven't read the book, but I have read this one --> Non-Designer's Scan & Print Book (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0201353946/ref=pd_sxp_f/002-7477987-5003229). Scroll down a bit and read the Editorial Reviews to see if it meets your need.
The best reference I have ever had is my print shop. It's essential to develop a good working relationship with them. Doing so makes it easier for you as they will happily answer your questions and even make money saving suggestions for you and your client(s).
Good luck!
Thanks for that alda, the book looks good, sounds like a normal day to day workflow if you work as a graphic designer.
Yeah print shop would be a very good resources, but i think we need to be a regular client if we wanna dig a lot of info from them, otherwise they're usually too busy.
Hello alda.b
Just wanna let you know I finally got the book that you recommended me. I even bought three of Robin Williams' book, which sounds very good and useful for me.

General Design..
all the non-designers series... I like the way she explain things, even though I've only read small part of the general design book, but I've felt the knowledge transfer process already...
Thank you for your suggestion... alda
Hey synthz... I'm glad they've been helpful to you. I am in complete agreement with you about the "non-designers" series. Whatever the topic, it is explained in an easy to understand manner and they are wonderful reminders of the basics. Thanks for following up on this! :D
