Well... I have this stupid problem with my browser...
You know when you type an url wrong in IE??? The msn search page apears???
Well... Some darn script in some f#¨&@ site change that, and now I get an ugly "lotsa links" site....
Any of you know how to make this come back to normal??
I've already checked the windows Registry twice and didn't find anything wrong... (didn't find doesn't mean that there's nothing wrong)
Well... that's all folks...
thx. ;)
Actually this should be in your registry.
If you want to do this manually,
Goto HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Internet Explorer/Main and there's a string value named SearchPage, you can just alter that.
Of course you could just use Mozilla Firefox :)

And that's the exact place I've looked for... there's nothing wrong there...

http://mozilla.org/products/firefox/
:D I cannot begin to tell you what a great little browser it is. Once you start using firefox, you will most likely not go back :)

ok well then try this...make a not of the page that you get directed to, then copy the link (exclude the http or the www and the com, org whatever the extension is) and use regedit's find function to find that key and once you do, if you know what youre doing then go ahead and do whats necessary, otehrwise tell me where it is in your registry and what the keys and values are.
Example:
If I get redirected to http://google.com/ as the search page, copy google and search for that.

Well.. the question about "where do I find firefox" was as dumb as shit.. hehe.. a simple google search gave that unswere (d'oh)
About the registry search... I've done that too...
Anyway... I'm reading the Firefox FAQ (I allways do this before install anything) and maybe I'll install it today...
That's wierd...everything's in your registry...
Last week we had this problem at college and nobody could undo this so i told them where to go to the registry and search for the URL but they couldnt find it...it turned out that they searched the registry for http://theSite.com/ because they had cut and pasted the URL to search for it whereas the URL in the registry was http://theSite.com it was just missing a slash...you see the server adds the backslash.....so you will have to look for any word related to that page.

I'm thinking in other possibility...
Look... Maybe the reg entry is set to go to the X site... and the X site redir my browser to this new Y site... So, if I search the reg for anything like the Y site, I'll find nothing...
Well.. hehe.. I'll try to figure out what is the X site on my reg before any more searching.. hehe..
Yeah that can be the problem but all you have to do is lookout for the URL before it redirects...I mean ther has to be at least a second or two of lag before it redirects unless you have a 3mb connection or something
/me kicks dialup

Hehehe... dial-up sux... Belive me.. I know...
Well.. I'll try to fix that anyway, but I'm installing Firefox.. hehe..
Actualy I'm modifing the firebird.reg file to makeit a firefox.reg... So I can install the plug-ins that check the reg for the browsers...
Is that right or am I doing shit??
I dont think you should alter anything. It might work now after you make some changes but if you need to install an extenstion or do something similar i nthe future, you might get errors.
Anyway I dont understand why you want to edit the file.

The file that's on the site it's for firebird... so it looks for firebird.exe, or the folder C:\program_files\mozzila_firebird\plugins\ etc etc etc...
btw... I've downloaded the ZIP file, not the installer
