well ive never made a grunge brush, but I can help you with the scanline.

1) Make a new image (just make it like 10x10 or something) with transparent background.
2)zoom into 1600x
3)take pencil tool and draw 1 black dot then take the rectangle marquee (sp?) tool and select that drawn square and the square above or below that.
4)then goto Edit>Define Pattern then fill in a name for it ex"scanline"
5)then when your in a document, you can make a new layer then select the part you want to use the scanline with the rectangular marguee (sp?) tool and then right click>fill then when in options, say fill with pattern then select the scanline pattern from the box below.

That is it, then you can add a filter to that layer to make it look better. I suggest Multiply with a little transparency on it.

Hope that helps :)

ok, i just realized you probably already know about the scanlines (and i spent all that time writing :() but with the brush, its kind of the same thing, except you go edit>define brush then you probably do a name thing

then u like go to the brush and then lick on the brush size thing, and on the right of that should be a little arrow. lick on that and do load brush I dont know what to do after that seeing as how I have never saved a brush.

Sry I cant help.

Do you mean when you download a new brush and want to make it useable in your Photoshop? If so what I do is go into the Program files for Photoshop ( C:\Program Files\Adobe for me and I think that is the standard set of it.) and save it into there. Then when you go into photoshop the next time click on the down for brush and then the little arrow top right of the box that drops down, on the list there click on 'Load Brushes...' and select the brush you want from C:\Program Files\Adobe or where ever you put it.

I took a screen shot for you to see what I mean if you can't decypher that jumble I posted.

Sorry it is a bit low standard, I had to resize it.

Hope that helped.

Easiest thing is to go to ...adobe/presets/brushes and save the brushes there, then they will always be avaible
