hello all im new here and it seems that this forum is full of knowlegeble people, I have this idea in my head but dont know how to start.

I have this picture gallery and each picture has an alpha filter setting, you now that effect were the pic is kind of faded white and when you go over it it bbecomes visable and clear.

ok i want to take that a step further.. this is the hard part i want a bubble effect....when i go over the picture i want the pic to enlarge with out disturbing the ones next to it its ok if the bigger pic cobvers or overlaps the pic next to it but not distore them out of place... i tried but can not get it to work right i seen this effect on flash but i would like to stay out of it. well thank you in advance....here is the web page just click on the gallery buttom at the bottom and then choose MISC.PICTURES to get an idea of what im talking about. thanxs a million

looks like your gonna need some design help as well

since your already using flash for your buttons or whatever, why not just make the gallery flash too... its much much easier to create something like that in flash

i agree with just using flash for it all, it would be alot easier, otherwise in html all i could say would be to use layers and mousovers and they're not very resolution friendly.

if youre still inclined to avoid flash, i'd suggest this:

how close are your images?
if there is already space between the images, you could get rid of that space but add extra space around the faded image. (so it looks like there is actually space in between them...this will also depend on your background). Then the rollover can extend over where the extra space was in the first image. does that make sense?

if youre knew to the JS, you can use Fireworks, it is pretty easy. Update us on your progress!

and don't use alpha filters. they are a propriatery [sp?] filter of internet explorer, and thus not standards compatible.

to check out what I mean, download firebird - runs using the gecko engine, and is the browser component of mozilla. This browser is as close as you get to the www.w3c.org standards.
