Just because i don't know of a tutorial, doesn't mean i don't know the program.
These programs are not like Photoshop and Illustrator, there's no effects and/filters in those programs. I wouldn't even know what to write if i had to write a tutorial. Why don't you read the manual

well what do u know the old fav google
http://www.google.com.au/search?q=quark+tutorials&ie=UTF-8&hl=en&meta=&X=1
;)
Anyway in the real world filters won't get u a job unless u are trying to sell art, belive been there. I guess i'm at the wrong site to ask for graphic design question

Not at all, there's a lot of professional graphic designers here (including myself), but you didn't ask a graphic design question. You asked for a tutorial on how to use a program, thats a technical question :)
And to be honest, this thread doesn't actually belong in Desktop Publishing, but we'll keep it here anyways, unless you want me to move it to misc. 2D programs where you posted it in the first place. :)
and ofcourse filters wont get you a job...but not using them will...I see you've never been there.
