i just got offerd a job to design snowboards.
they said i would get free clothing and boards and credit in videos and magazines.

sounds good to me cuz its something i wanna do :D

but i have been offerd a webdesign job before from an american company before but that never happend and i spent time working for them, designing and stuff.
but they back off later and i felt screwed.

now as you can imagine i dont wanna go through that again.
so my question is how can i find out if its legit?

all i know now is that is a small company from orange county, they started a year ago and its called riffsnowboards.

so there a good way to find out if its real and if they will live up to their word?

Make them sign a contract and maybe get your first pay/offering upfront?
I'm sure there's a way you can talk to these people and tell them of your previous experience.

you could go and meet them in person, if u live near there. Get them to sign a contract and also make a disclaimer and make sure they read it and save all the conversations/e-mails that you get from them. As long as they have read your conditions and have said they agree, it should be good. Other than that have fun and i would like to see how you get on with this project

ok cool, definately let us know how it progresses if it does, i'm new to web-designing for business and i'd really like to see how a person with such experience handles the job for future reference.

Although i have had only a handful of jobs, i can honestly say that when a customer looks really interested and just when you think you have a job and then you dont hear from them again is the most annoying experience. I hope you get it tho, good luck :P
