Little help? Search engines...

Not sure what forum this should go under...

Does anyone know the best way to get your site placed on most search engines? Should one goto each one individually and submit the site or are there places to do several at once?

What other types of places should one submit sites to? And which places are the best? Any URLs?

I tried this out, but it only allows you to submit to 3 of the 400 engines.. is this cause it's only a demo? And if so.. isn't the demo pretty useless then? And if you pay, can you submit to all of those sites?
