Ok, that is just the worst case of ripping i have ever seen. It's a damn shame that some people are too lazy or untalented as to rip off work that someone has put there time and ideas into. Its just sad. I hope that you can sort this thing out Monk.

Just like you probably couldn't be bothered learning Irish river dancing. I think the right thing to do would have been to ask for permission to use or buy it. I have had heaps of stuff ripped of me and quite frankly I think of it as an honor that someone likes my stuff that much. Besides, I couldn't really give a shit, I show off my stuff for people to enjoy and if they get enjoyment from ripping it, so be it.

Hence it being called laziness. I never get how these people can keep up the pretense, for all the effort that goes into ripping, covering your tracks, tacking the image down when you've been found out, they might as well have learnt a bit of photoshop and got much more self satisfaction.

Anyway, glad it got sorted out monk

i dunno, i dont quite agree with that. some ppl need legal advice, but they may not study law to get it. same sorta thing might apply to them when they "steal" graphics. they need it, so they take work already done.

some ppl also dont understand copyright that well, and think if it's on the internet, it's free to use for whatever purpose. they also dont think of the other ramifications.. eg what monk said about taking food from his family.

i think it's a little laziness mixed in with quite a big load of damn ignorance really.

Just a suggestion, and I don't want it to come across as an attack but you might wanna consider taking it down & putting up a smaller image so if it is ripped again the quality will be sheit.

i have thought about that, or heavily watermarking the images, but, i shouldn't have to, especially with that particular image, as when it is made into the layout, that would be what was displayed online anyway, i limit the size of images i post to no more than 640 (or 1000 horizontally) pixels wide, so nobody could make a print from my work, and will add a subtle copyright notice to everything i upload but theres not much more you can do apart from trust the law, and contact the rippers professionally, they usually comply when threatened with a lawsuit, and their hosts usually take down offending infringements when the abuse team is contfronted

one possible silver lining in this one, the guy was adamant that he paid someone to make this design for him, and seemed very approachable and compliant, and has offered me $65 a month for a year to make him another design of similar quality, i now have to decide whether i trust him enough to keep to a contract

H.R Giger is one of my favourate artists. I have a tattooist mate that does some awesome biomechanical images. I might see if he will post some of his stuff in the gallery on my site.
