I have a problem with placing a text from Word to InDesign. The problem is text which is italic in Word, but when I place it in InDesign it goes to normal. Can anybody help me with that issue, please? There are so many words in italic(must be), so it will take me ages to change every word manually. Thanks in advance.

It might be an issue with the fonts ... either way, cant you just re-italicize it once in In-Design? Only takes a second..

moved it.
but if you just copy and paste the text in indesign it does change, if you place the text it should remain the same as in word.
or if you select some text that is already in indesign and then place or paste the text in it it should remain the same.
if this does not work just make a charcter style, then you just have to select the text and click on the style, it works allot faster then selecting the txt and changin the font the change it to italic.
can't see how it can be a font issue, or the font isnt loaded.. who knows

I tryed to save word document as rich text format italic text Ariel) . but when I place it in In Design all text is in normal (regular). evrything is ok with font thats not an issue. I talked to same graphic designers and some say that there is no way to save the formatting from word to InDesign. Well It must be a solution, I have to prepare a book about Judo( 300 pages) and all the japanese words must be in italic and book about judo has lots of japenese words you know what I mean.

I do not think there is a way to do what you are asking. The reason being... most people use truetype fonts in Word and set the italic to the text with the "Italic Button." InDesign does not support character options set by Word. If you will notice there are no ITALIC or BOLD buttons in InDesign. Those feature in PageMaker use to cause problems with imagesetters in the past. Most pre-press operators should use Postscript or Opentype. You need to apply the ITALIC version of the font to the desired text.
I think that Sender's suggestion of setting up a character style and applying it to the appropriate text is your best option.
Do any font differences transfer from Word to InDesign, or just the InDesign default font? If it does, I have another option for you that I just thought of....
(I am not very knowledgeable about Word so bear with me.) If you can REPLACE/CHANGE all the Italic text in Word to another totally different font, and import the text with the 2 different font styles into InDesign, then you can REPLACE/CHANGE the desired text back to an ITALIC version of whatever font you are using... I don't know if it will work, but it would have to be 2 different fonts and not the button options.
It may be worth your time to test this out...

From InDesign CS's help file:
To preserve formatting attributes when pasting from other applications:
1. Choose Edit > Preferences > General (Windows) or InDesign > Preferences > General (Mac OS).
2. Select Preserve Text Attributes When Pasting, and then click OK.
it's a very helpful Quote, thanks man
