View Full Version : pdf colours going dull.
:hi: Hi. I need somthing printed. I have done the artwork in illustrator, and when i save the file as a pdf the colours go really dull. So the colours in illustrator are bright. But when I open the pdf in adobe reader the colours go dull. Does anyone know why this may be happening? http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c258/Zeb_raa/colour.jpg
example of the colour difference.

are the colours all the same? all spot of cymk? or it could be the PDF settings, you can set it to print when you save it in illustrator.
but i would check if everything i used is in the same colour mode, spot colours or cymk. then save it to a print pdf.
but as far as i know there is usually a small difference in colour, and it is gonna look a bit different once you print it. or press it.

I'm having this same problem. My black when saved as a pdf comes out grey. I've tried every possible configuration in InDesign as well as Acrobat. I have the settings the same as another computer which works fine.
I think it's inherent in the monitor settings, but I cannot fix it, and it's causing a lot of problems.
When you work in RGB, be sure to convert everything to CMYK for press. Are you using transparencies? be sure to flatten them.
As for Black...
Images: make sure your source images are in greyscale mode. If your black contains CMY, it'll not very black.
Art: You can set the color toCMYK C0 M0 Y0 K100 or to greyscale K100.
Make sure your preview settings in Acrobat are good, so it shows higher quality on screen.
