Hey,I'm working with a client and he needs a animated banner for a message board but it cant exceed 34k...I totally took damn near all the designs outta this animation but its still over 100k..I dont understand it,Theirs other banners on the site with way more design in their banners but its exceptable at 34k..What am I doing wrong?
The B-ground is only that matrix effect with the filters, not an image so it doesn't way much in the B-Ground...

BTW-The client is on stand-by for the animation so I'm gonna be on a littlke stalk mode before I leave this forum....1

unless you make it smaller you probably won't get it under 50k, i managed 51k at 16 colors, theres only 5 frames so it's likely that it's the layer styles that have bumped the filesize up, looks wrong though, i made some very complex animations with upto 15 frames and managed to keep it down to under 60k (around 150x80 too)

Thanks for your help anyways Monk..I'm apprecaitive at ur fast response..I'm not understanding the file with this...The B-ground is only a small filter glowing edges>finding edges etc.....No images...Cant seem to figure out why its so big....

Try removing the glow around the text.

The way GIF compression works is by recording color changes across each horizontal line of pixels.

More changes = bigger file size

it's definately the size of the frames that's letting it down too, i just recreated it with the same filesize, got it to 48k but i highly doubt that you'll get it smaller, try the same with a smaller image, 700pixels is way too large to have that many colours in it and keep it that small :)

edit, i got it to 34k, but it looks like crap, very pixelly, down to 9 colours, i'd upload it so you could see it but my ftp is acting up

try the filesize first, that's more likely to be the cause of the problem, even if you reduce the width to 500 it'd make a hell of a difference

I gave it a try...
36k is the best I could get.

nice one man, you could probably save another 10k by shaving off 1cm off either end too, but this meets the criteria so job well done :)

edit, hang on, you're not terrell hehe, really need to read more
