Freakin out on this one. Loading up PS, trying to add text to an image and it comes out really small. I change the PT value and make sure everything is 100% zoomed in but even if I change it to 500PT I can just about see it.

Running PS7, on Win XP Pro with resoloution of 1024x768.

Help appreciated.

Try checking what the 'ppi' is. If you're at 72 'pixels per inch' (the highest a monitor can display anyway) then you shouldn't have too much of a problem??

Blackjohn,

Just a footnote... 72ppi is for Mac. 96ppi is for PC. FYI.

really? I was always told it was 72?? is it because of the flatscreen monitors??

Cheers for the responses guys but I don't think it's to do with the PPI. I've just checked the settings and it's set to 96 PPI.

The text just isn't working properly on Photoshop and I'm a PS newbie so to speak. I'm more familar with PSP but help in this would be appreciated.

I'll try and get a screenshot up soon, but if I set the PT to 500 it is only just visible.

grafyte,

Nope, always been that way between Mac and PC. Since the dawn of time or since I've been a IT Tech... whichever came first. (My first paychecks were comprised of dinosaur eggs... omlet? anyone?)

Got a screenshot of the problem up now. Any ideas on how to fix this are ready to be embraced ;)

Er, as said above - I'm a total PS newbie and I know what a text palette is, but how do I get to it?

text pallette is the one just above your "info" tab in your screenshot...the icon thats in the shape of a rectangle
or just goto the windows menu and locate the text pallette from there

i dont see anything wrong with it....your font should be off the screen at 750pt but like you said its barely visible.....maybe you have some corrupt fonts? im just guessing.....did you update anything on your comp just before this font problem occured?

BlackJohn,

I noticed in the screen cap that you have several messenger services open.. mIRC, Yahoo, AIM and MS Messenger. Depending on your computer, O/S and it's memory, this could effect your fonts and how they are displayed. Maybe try closing them out before envoking PS and then check the type tool issue?? Just a thought.

Cheers for the replys guys. My brother had this problem with his PS but he can't, for the life of him, remember how he solved it.

I've tried the turning off/restarting of comp to no avail. Don't think it's to do with corrupt fonts as I've not installed any fonts as of yet, just got the default.

I've enough memory etc to run all them IM programs so don't think that's an issue but it's worth a try.

I'll try reinstalling PS and let you know how I get on :)
