How Do You Achieve This Effect?

How do you achieve the lighting effect where the light is shining out from behind the logo in streaks like that? Is it just brushwork or what? If anyone knows how to do it or any tutorials on it that would be great! Thanks in advance for any help.

Or if you have some kind of 3D package, you can use atmosphere effects to get a similar look.

No, that's not airbrushing. My best guess is that it's made with a White fillin of the logo, with the filter LUCE aplied to it. Luce isn't a stock filter, and kind of hard to get your hands on (it is free though, mind you :)). If you can't find it for download, contact me :)

you could always go with duplicating your text layer, making it white (or whatever you want the light color to be) and sticking it under your text layer. then do a radial blur set to zoom. that'll give you decent beam type effect. after that just work with levels and such

Maybe this is a noobish question, but could you tell me more about airbrushing ...

Sure man..check out deviant gallery in my sig. The one and only piece in there is "airbrushed" I generally associate with a digital painting, but anything made with the paint brush can be considered airbrushed. I'm really into this abstract style airbrushing, check out a few other of my pieces in the showcase arena.
