Any Good Books?

I'm looking to buy a book of some sort that would start with the very basics of photoshop, and then later on get into some advanced stuff, to help improve my graphic abilities. Any suggestions?

"The Art of Photoshop" is good once you start learning some techniques.

I think I'll definitely get the Photoshop Bible. Looks like it would be good for me to be able to look up everything I could need.

Are there any good books that have some like....step by step procedures to achieve certain looks? Like...maybe a book of great tutorials?

There is a book called "How to Cheat in Photoshop" its more of a advanced look but how they describe things allow you to follow, with still forcing you to learn the program.

I've only read one book on PS cover to cover and really learnt from it and that was "Inside Adobe Photoshop 6.0" by David Bouton. Of course that was for version 6, but David Bouton really taught me a whole load of stuff in his books. He explains things in depth and so clearly. If he still writes, it's worht giving his books a try.

adobe classroom in a book starts from the very basics and has a bunch of labs that gradually get more advanced. that's what i learned photoshop 7 from.

Yeah isnt that the recommended reading material for the Adobe Certified Expert program?

Anyway I was trying to buy the "classroom in a book for PS" book a month back but they were out of stock here and i cant order it seperately coz that would cost 3 times as much :S Im much better off waiting for it.

I gotta go with the Classroom in a Book series as well. Check the library too, you might be able to rent an older PS book.
