Graffiti Sketches

Post and give feedback on graffiti sketches. I only have three on the computer, but I'll throw 'em up. Peace

you have to work on your marker-skills. Get some Pantone markers, or Copics and a stack of bleed-proof marker paper. It will improve clearity within your busy style...

there are some other realy cool graffity threads on this forum. might want to pick up some tricks of the trade there....

Yea, I know, sorry about the marker thing, I'm on a mad tight budget. So I had to go with Roseart 50 pack haha. I was lookin' more for feedback on like the shapings and stuff. But thanks

Dont bother with filling it in, it looks even more toy. Wory about letter structures, start simple with block letters untill you understand letter structure.

I think creatively you've got potential but you really need to work on your lines and structure.

Try rough sketching lightly and then going back over it to try and straighten your lines until you get the hang of it... does that even make sense?

And as 5ive Dee said, I wouldn't bother coloring them in just yet, keep your shading simple so you can see what you're doing wrong and then redraw the shapes to try and correct it.

Graff is all about line skill and control, it takes a lot of practice and you need to be really hard on yourself in the process if you want to get good.

You need thicker/darker lines where your shapes overlap. You're drawing perspective lines off of your shapes on the outside but you should seperate them a bit in the foreground as well. Obviously some shapes are going infront of other shapes but you're not giving depth to any of it so it appears very flat.

when doing a moch-up on paper... i used a prespective point and a ruler (remember that old trick?). When things get complex it makes it easier. I also use a lot more shadowing for a more 3d effect.

looking good though! you would definitely do better with some prismacolors or something. just pick up about 5 colors all complementing and play with using less color, more black, smooth and simple.

just keep doing it and you will get better, and it looks like allot of people start with this kind of style. even the tags look very familiar.
now, i would look at other people's work, see how they do it. that will help. and then mix stuff to get your own style.

you could ofcourse spend allot of money on this, but it looks like you need more pratice. so it kinda seems like a waste of money.
i would get a blackbook, but do look out for the paper. i've had a book that had paper that when i drew a line it bled.
but i also bought 120 markers, 2 sets all kinds of colours for under 5 bucks and it has a big fish on the front just kids markers, works just fine . but pencils will work aswell and use the markers for a bit of accent
